Northmoorarts was created following a short period of intense felting creativity in 2018. My artistic background was previously confined to photography, membership of the Royal Photographic Society being gained in 1991 following City and Guilds photography courses at a local gallery and adult education venues. For many years this remained my main hobby but with more time now available in my life the emphasis currently is on felting art.
Day courses have provided interludes to working life; jewellery making, stained glass, print making, willow weaving have all been enjoyed, but nuno and wet felting was the start of the new focus in my artistic life. Wall hangings from my own design were created as part of day courses with Vivienne Morpeth in Barton, but latterly I have been creating my pictures at home. Inspiration centres around my own photographs but also from the landscape, predominantly of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, photographs in magazines and newspapers and my own garden and imagination.
